After three years of advocacy, Alabama State Rep. Rolanda M. Hollis’ period poverty bill is finally being enacted as a state law by the Alabama State Department of Education! Thank you to Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey for signing the bill into law, and to Breanna and Brooke Bennett, the twin teenagers who founded Women in Training, for bringing their vision of menstrual equity to Alabama and beyond. Thank you, also, to Akiesha Anderson, WIT Legal Counsel, for successfully advocating for the bill during the 2022 legislative session.
