The 3rd Annual WIT Turkey Giveaway, spearheaded by Dr. LaKeshia Thomas, Women in Training Community Service Chairwoman, was a resounding success!
Teamwork was key to the event’s success, as three agencies combined forces to feed the hungry in the Montgomery area. Despite inflation rearing its head, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided a generous grant to supply 100 turkeys this year. In 2021, the same grant provided 150 turkeys, and 200 birds in 2020. Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church provided a safe space for the Thanksgiving giveaway in the parking lot of the Dexter Parsonage Museum, former home of the Civil Rights icon, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Volunteers from all three groups worked tirelessly to fulfill our individual missions to care for underserved families.
Special thanks to the Walmart Supercenter in Millbrook for their support over the last two years.
