New Youth Ambassadors for Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium

Updated: Jul 3, 2021

Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium has named Breanna and Brooke Bennett, founders of Women in Training, Inc. as Youth Ambassadors.

“SBGWC gives Black girls in the south the opportunity to make their voices heard,” said Michelle Nelson-Hawkins, Director, Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium.

The SBGWC will provide intensive training to the Youth Ambassadors in Philanthropy; involve them in planning the September 2021 Black Girls Dream Conference; and invite them to a virtual summit with the Core Movement Partners, who are:

  • Highlander Education and Research Center

  • CoThinkk

  • Black Women’s Roundtable

The Youth Ambassadors will also help other girls apply to the next #BlackGirlJoy Challenge and help to select winning ideas. Breanna and Brooke won the #BlackGirlJoy Challenge in the spring of 2020 for continuing their work in distributing #WITKITS of menstrual and hygiene products during the COVID-19 pandemic.
