Judge Tiffany McCord Inducts Monarchs Into WIT Leadership Development Academy at WIT Brunch

Montgomery County District Hon. Tiffany McCord inducted the Monarch Cohort of middle and high school students into the WIT Leadership Development Academy in front of a sold-out audience at the Second Annual WIT Mother-Daughter Brunch. The event was held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Hon. Tiffany McCord charged The Monarch Cohort of the WIT Leadership Development Academy to be of service to themselves, their community and their nation.

Mrs. LaTisha Scott, entrepreneur and star of the Oprah Winfrey Network’s Love & Marriage: Huntsville, joined the event virtually. Breanna and Brooke Bennett, the 15-year-old co-founders of Women In Training, Inc. interviewed Scott about issues related to young women’s empowerment and menstrual equity.

Mrs. Scott said it’s important that you get to know yourself and build self confidence. She also recommended journaling to reflect on highs and lows throughout your journey. This allows you to look back on a good day, and lift yourself up on a bad day.

Judge McCord said, “When you see all these brave and courageous women, you see women that were once scared. It’s important to remember that in order to win in life, you’ve got to lose sometimes.”

These enlightening messages were the perfect way to celebrate Women’s History Month! If you were unable to attend our event, we are still accepting donations HERE. Proceeds raised from the Brunch will support the WITKITS Campaign to provide bags of menstrual, dental and hygiene supplies each month to more than 600 families in need.

Valorie Lawson, an anchor at WSFA, was the event moderator. WSFA was the event’s media sponsor.

One in four American girls and young women skip school or miss work because they cannot afford sanitary pads or tampons to stay healthy and clean during their period. To alleviate period poverty, Women in Training, Inc. provides monthly donations of WITKITS – canvas bags full of feminine hygiene products – to at-risk girls, young women and gender expansive youth. WIT also provides educational information programs about menstruation for girls and publishes the brochure,“The WIT Guide to the Menstrual Cycle.”
