Help Pack WITKITS at MLK Day Volunteer Festival at Dexter Avenue King Memorial in Montgomery

Updated: Dec 27, 2022

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2023, Women in Training, Inc. volunteers will pack WITKITS of menstrual, dental and hygiene supplies for girls in need as part of the MLK Day JustServe Volunteer Festival at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Legacy Center, 455 Washington Avenue in downtown Montgomery, Alabama.

Dr. LaKeshia Thomas, DMD, WIT Community Outreach Chairwoman, is spearheading WIT's participation in the MLK event.

"Dr. Martin Luther King was an inspiration to us all and it’s wonderful that Women in Training is collaborating with Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church and JustServe to uphold his monumental legacy," Dr. Thomas said. "Women in Training makes every effort to instill confidence and give young girls and women the courage to achieve their dreams."

The MLK Day JustServe Volunteer Festival will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., immediately after the 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday Celebration at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, 454 Dexter Avenue.

The MLK Day JustServe Volunteer Festival is an opportunity to learn about some of the nonprofits and faith-based organizations that operate in Montgomery.

"Dr. King dedicated his life to building a society based on fairness," says local JustServe Specialist Sheralyn Belyeu. "Montgomery is blessed with nonprofit and faith-based organizations that carry forth his work by saving lives, feeding the hungry, and supporting education. Join us at the Volunteer Festival and learn how you can be part of creating the future he envisioned."
