Smiles of joy!
Looks of bliss and wonder!
This is how the children responded merely from holding the beautiful gifts that were lovingly wrapped by the WIT Young Leaders and volunteers for the annual Angel Tree at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church.
Women in Training, Inc. was honored to collaborate with Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church on the church's Angel Tree project. They gave gifts to children who benefited from the church's Benevolence mission, as well as children from New Beginnings Educational Center.
"New Beginnings is grateful for this generous outreach from WIT and Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church," said Mildred Wakefield, Secretary, New Beginnings Board of Directors. "This outreach makes life better for our families, especially during the holiday season. Merry Christmas!"
Wanda Anderson, Chairwoman, Deacons' Spouses and Ministers' Wives at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, expressed appreciation for support from the WIT Young Leaders.
“WIT's partnership this year is especially appreciated due to the status of the economy,” Mrs. Anderson said. “The current economic situation has caused more families to seek help this holiday, and it is a blessing to be able to continue with this special project.”
Thanks to the collaboration between Women in Training, Inc. and Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church's Deacons' Wives and Ministers' Spouses and congregation, 30 children received gifts valued at more than $2,500.
“Every child deserves to experience the joy of the holiday season,” said Tania Johns, WIT Vice President for Youth Development. “With hearts of gratitude and thanksgiving, we’re glad to be a part of making Christmas special for children at New Beginnings and other agencies.”
