Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Alpha Upsilon Lambda Chapter) presented the Martin Luther King Legacy Award for Community Service to Breanna and Brooke Bennett, the 12-year-old co-founders of Women in Training (WIT), Inc., at the fraternity's 24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast held in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

Ambassador Andrew Young presented the twins an award at the National Youth Summit in Jackson, MS, on October 27, 2019

Flanked by two civil rights icons, Breanna and Brooke Bennett won The Ethics Project’s Ambassador Andrew J. Young Outstanding Student Award!  Andrew Young, the former United States ambassador to the United Nations and former Atlanta mayor who marched with Martin Luther King Jr. on the left; and Bernard Lafayette, the former director of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) for Selma, who was badly beaten in the “Bloody Sunday” march for voting rights, on the right.  

Leadership Montgomery recognized Brooke and Breanna as Heroes in Montgomery on October 1, 2019 for creating Women in Training, Inc. and providing menstrual and hygiene supplies to at-risk youth.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award recognized Breanna Bennett as the Alabama Middle School Honoree in a ceremony in Washington, D.C. in May 2019 for co-producing Architects of Change, the 30-minute documentary about the Civil Rights Movement.  Here is the trailer:

The proclamation was in honor of the debut of Breanna and Brooke Bennett's award-winning documentary, Architects of Change, at the Civil Rights Memorial. The film production was supported by the Rosa Parks Museum at Troy University
